Blu-ray Review: Glass - An Excellent Conclusion to the Trilogy - Out Now

GlassToday the comic book thriller Glass, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, comes to 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. Glass is the third film in a trilogy that started almost twenty years ago with the release of Unbreakable, followed by the more recent Split years later. No one had any idea that the first two films were related until the credits were ready to roll on the second film, with a scene showing that both took place within the same universe, which sparked people’s excitement for more.

In the first film, a comic book art dealer, Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), a.k.a. Mr. Glass, is born with “brittle bones” disease, which causes him to be easily injured and suffer multiple breaks throughout his childhood. He feels that if he exists, he must have an opposite. He makes it his mission to find such a person, and eventually tracks down David Dunn (Bruce Willis), a lone survivor of a train crash that Price himself caused. Dunn subsequently finds himself to be super strong and nearly invincible, except for his weakness of water. Dunn becomes a super hero of sorts, a crime-fighting vigilante, The Overseer, helping the weak, as he also has the unique ability to see flashes of the criminal pasts and futures of others with only a touch. The only one aware of his abilities is his son, Joseph (Spencer Treat Clark). At the end of the film, Price is committed to a psychiatric facility.

Blu-ray Review: Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase is a Fun Caper for the Whole Family

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blue-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

Nancy Drew and the Hidden StaircaseBased on the classic book series, Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres, follows the sleuth teen as she uncovers a new mystery.

After her mother passes, Nancy (Sophia Lillis) and her father (Sam Trammell) move from Chicago to the small town of River Heights. Longing for adventure, Nancy often gets into trouble trying to help others, as it’s not always in the most constructive ways. It’s the last straw when she retaliates against a bully (Evan Castelloe) after he humiliates one of her best friends, Bess (Mackenzie Graham), and causes property damage. The sixteen-year-old is sentenced to community service picking up trash by Sheriff Marchbanks (Jay DeVon Johnson).

Blu-ray Review: First Man - An Impressive Look into Neil Armstrong's Life and Achievements - Out Now

First ManThe film First Man is based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen. It tells the story of Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) and his work in the space program and the decade leading up to the first manned mission to the moon, the famed Apollo 11.

The film focuses on not only Armstrong’s heroic achievements, but also his life and more private moments that most people don’t know about.

Although the film from Steven Spielberg, directed by Damien Chazelle, looked beautifully done from the trailers, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, as this isn’t normally the kind of film I would watch. However, I’m quite glad that I did.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee MillerThis year, just in time for Halloween, Fathom Events featured an encore presentation of both versions of NT Live’s Frankenstein on two nights only in most locations, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s novel.
