DVD Review: Maze Runner: The Death Cure - Out Now

Maze Runner: The Death CureMaze Runner: Death Cure is the third installment in the Maze Runner series, based on the book series of the same name by James Dashner. The films take place in a dystopian future where there is a deadly virus, the Flare, that has wiped out much of humanity as well as turned many of the infected into zombie-like killers called “Cranks.” The story follows the journey of Thomas, played by Dylan O’Brien, and his friends as they try to escape the reach of the group W.C.K.D. and save humanity.

In the first film, the characters awake with no memory in a place called The Glade, where they are forced to survive and find their way out of a deadly ever-changing maze. After escaping they learn that that maze is part of an experiment from W.C.K.D. (the World Catastrophe Killzone Department), where scientists are using children, some of which are immune, to find the cure for a disease called the Flare.

Blu-ray Review: Atomic Blonde - Out Now

Atomic BlondeBased on the graphic novel The Coldest City by Kurt Johnstad and set during the Cold War, Atomic Blonde follows undercover MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron) as she is sent to Berlin to investigate another agent (Sam Hargrave)’s murder, as well as recover a list of double agents before it gets into the wrong hands. Upon reaching her destination, she is required to join forces with fellow agent David Percival (James McAvoy).

The movie boasts an excellent cast. Theron was made for this role, and I really liked the interplay and tension between her and McAvoy. John Goodman as Emmett Kurzfeld as well as Eddie Marsan as Spyglass were also a fine additions.
